Arsenal need a 'slap in the face', claims icon Martin Keown after disastrous Slavia Prague draw.

Image
The Gunners legend was left incensed by his old side's performance as they laboured to a 1-1 draw with Slavia Prague at Emirates Stadium. Slavia were allowed to settle in the first half, looking confident after twice winning on British soil already this year against Rangers and Leicester. Nicolas Pepe did finally break the deadlock in the 86th minute, before disaster struck deep into stoppage time, when Tomas Holes struck in the 93rd minute to grab a crucial equaliser and away goal. And Keown was not happy with how Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta approached the game. He told BT Sport: "For me it was about Arsenal tonight, and about the way they played and imposed themselves on the opposition. And by sitting off early in the encounter, I thought they had chosen the wrong tactics, and there was an opportunity to do that tonight. "You're the home team, so you take the initiative, and you ask them the question, can you play? Can you pass out from the back? We'll see how

Predicted Arsenal lineup to face Slavia Prague with all eyes on Saka and Lacazette

Image
Arsenal’s journey in the UEFA Europa League will continue on Thursday when the gunners welcome Slavia Prague at the Emirates Stadium and they will come into this game, just a few days after their defeat to the Premier League Champions Liverpool. So here is the predicted lineup of the North Londoners with all eyes on Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette. PREDICTED ARSENAL LINEUP TO FACE SLAVIA PRAGUE TEXT FORM: Leno, Cedric, Gabriel, Holding, Bellerin. Xhaka. Partey, Saka, Smith Rowe, Willian, Lacazette GOALKEEPING: Bernd Leno was far from being the worst player on the pitch on Saturday when the gunners got beat 3-0 by Liverpool and so he should be in goal against the Czech side. DEFENCE: Kieran Tierney got injured in the previous match after a collision and the club has recently confirmed that he will be out for four to six weeks and there is high chance that Mikel Arteta might use Cedric in the left back position on Sunday while Bellerin plays on the opposite fullback place. Big blow as Arteta unsure if Tierney will play again this season after ligament damage.

Mikel Arteta is unsure if Kieran Tierney will play for Arsenal again this season after the left-back was ruled out for four to six weeks with ligament damage to his left knee. The full-back limped off during the Gunners' disappointing 3-0 reverse at home to Liverpool on Saturday and required further checks on the severity of the issue. An Arsenal statement said Tierney will not require surgery on the injury but with the Premier League campaign coming to an end on May 23, he may not feature again for Arsenal this term. It is also unfortunate timing for Scotland, who play their first match of the rescheduled Euro 2020 finals against the Czech Republic on June 14, with the first of two warm-up fixtures taking place against the Netherlands on June 2. "It could have been worse, he's feeling better, the damage is not that bad," Arteta said when previewing the first leg of Arsenal's Europa League quarter-final tie against Slavia Prague. "We have to go day by day to

Porto vs Chelsea FC: Uefa Champions League team news and prediction.

C helsea  must tonight immediately recover from  Thomas Tuchel ’s first loss as manager as they travel to face  Porto  in the first leg of their  Champions League  quarter-final. A remarkable 5-2 loss to West Brom, in which Thiago Silva was sent off, was in stark contrast to their recent performances based on rearguard wins, none more so than beating Atletico Madrid home and away in the last round. Porto were the team to get in the draw but are no pushovers after eliminating Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus. Date, time and venue Porto vs Chelsea is scheduled for an 8pm BST kick-off on Saturday, April 10, 2021. What's the latest team news, are N'Golo Kante, Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham fit? "They are fit enough to be in the squad and will be in the squad, all three. That's good news. Christian went off [against West Brom] before injury could happen. He said at half time that if he continued there would be an injury so we took him off. "Tammy is in the squad, and NG just did his last test and will be on the bench. He feels very comfortable, comfortable enough to be on the bench." Was the bust-up between Antonio Rudiger and Kepa because of Saturday's heavy defeat? "No, I would tell you if it was but it was not. It was nothing to do with the defeat, it was just an incident in training. "It got heated between Toni and Kepa so we calmed the situation down immediately. I don't want to play it down with anything artificial, these are things we don't want to accept but they can happen. "They are all competitors and want to win training matc

Knee surgery set to keep Arsenal star out of action for a month

Image
David Luiz will be a part of Arsenal’s last games of the season despite undergoing knee surgery recently. He had to undergo the procedure at the weekend and surgeries normally rule players out for a long time. The Gunners will play at least 10 more competitive games this season, depending on how far they go in the Europa League and he had been expected to miss those matches. Luiz has been an important part of their team this season with Mikel Arteta trusting the Brazilian to lead his players from the back. He is now expected to be without the former Chelsea defender for the next four weeks. Mail Sport, however, confirms that he will still play some role in Arsenal’s campaign before it ends. Luiz has been plagued by mistakes all his career, but on his day, the Brazilian is one of the best defenders that the Gunners have. In his absence, the likes of Gabriel Magalhaes and Pablo Mari will have to step up. His return to the field before this season ends will also boost his chance of earni

Mikel Arteta may need to drop Aubameyang for Gabriel Martinelli

Arsenal legend suggests Mikel Arteta may need to drop Aubameyang for Gabriel Martinelli Aubameyang disappoints, again Arsenal’s last outing of course saw them comfortably beaten by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. The Merseysiders have had a pretty dire season overall. But were still able to completely dominate Arsenal. And despite Liverpool still having something of a makeshift backline, the Gunners were limited to just three shots all game, only two of which were on target. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was particularly disappointing against the Reds, something Arsenal fans have become too accustomed to seeing this season. Martinelli over Aubameyang Since signing his new contract at the back end of 2020, the Arsenal captain has not looked anywhere close to his best. And now, after another subpar display against Liverpool, Martin Keown has suggested that Mikel Arteta should perhaps look to drop the African or risk losing the respect of his squad: Should Arteta not be dropping him for performing
