 The 25-year-old played a major role in helping his boyhood club Villa avoid relegation from the Premier League last season and has continued to excel in the current campaign. Despite missing his side’s last six league games through injury, Grealish has already registered six goals and 12 assists in England’s top flight this term and Villa are said to want around £100million to let their prized asset leave. 

Meanwhile, Arsenal are down in ninth place after losing 11 of their 29 games in the league this season and Gunners legend Winterburn has urged his former side to snap up the playmaker

He is a terrific player. His ability speaks for itself and he’s the type of player that if we want to move forward then we should be looking to buy. ‘He tends to prefer to play on the left-hand side so we’d need to see how that works with Arsenal’s current set up but I’m sure he could play in that Number 10 role as well. ‘Lots is up in the air with Arsenal, they’re not sure if [Martin] Odegaard will sign in the long term and that needs to be addressed beforehand. ‘One thing is for sure, if Grealish does become available then a whole host of clubs will be in for him.’ The Gunners finished the 2019/20 campaign in eighth place and have nine games left of the current season to improve on their position of ninth. However, Winterburn feels a top-six finish is a realistic target for Mikel Arteta’s side next season. ‘I don’t think Arsenal fans will accept sitting in 10th in the Premier League over the next two seasons,’ he added. ‘Discounting this season, if you say to Arsenal fans they’ll be between 8th and 10th, I’m not sure they’re going to accept that. ‘What they want to see is more regular good performances and not letting the level of play drop as much. ‘I think the next season will be a big season for Arteta and I think a lot of people will expect Arsenal to sit a lot nearer the top. I would expect them to realistically be inside the top six but challenging for a top four place.

 Martin Odegaard has hit the ground running at Arsenal but a permanent move could be beyond the Gunners. The Norwegian was signed on loan from Real Madrid in January. Mikel Arteta was in need of a creative midfielder and Odegaard has quickly acclimatised to the English top flight.
