Three Arsenal stars who flopped for Mikel Arteta's side in Liverpool thrashing

Dani Ceballos
Dani Ceballos had a night to forget at the Emirates.

With a pass success rate of 78%, he failed to get Arsenal sparking in midfield and was replaced by Mohamed Elneny after 58 minutes.

Gunners fans on Twitter lambased his performance, with one tweeting: "Ceballos with one of the worst performances I've ever witnessed from an Arsenal midfielder so far."

The Spaniard couldn't keep hold of the ball and was easily dispossessed throughout.

If Ceballos at his best represents everything that's good about Arsenal, at his worst he's a lightning rod for everything that is bad.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang was sporting a new haircut against Liverpool.

In the end, it worked as a good diversion tactic from the striker's below-par display.

His night is best summed up by a single stat - in the first-half, Aubameyang had more touches in his own box than Liverpool's.

Arteta didn't help the forward's cause by starting him on the left, but that doesn't excuse Aubameyang's anonymous evening.

His performance left Arsenal fans clamouring for Gabriel Martinelli - he was belatedly introduced in the 77th minute - and who could blame them?

Nicolas Pepe

While Aubemeyang has excuses for starting in an unnatural position, Nicolas Pepe did not.

The Ivory Coast international didn't show enough intent going forward and failed to create any clear cut chances.

Of the four dribbles that he attempted, Pepe completed just one - which summed up his night.

For £80million, Arsenal should expect a much more consistent attacking threat.
